SCHEDULED WORKSHOPS

 

Members of the Manitoba Mushroom Society may attend the workshops, meetings and forays for free. Non-members pay $10 for a workshop with exceptions noted in the workshop schedule and cannot participate in the Member Meeting or Forays. To become a member of the Society go to the Members page.

Donna Kurt presents information on identification, life cycle, harvest, uses.
MEC will provide participants a discount coupon for in-store purchases valid for about a week.

Hosted by Nature Manitoba
Register on Nature Manitoba's website on or after 2026 January 1.
Nature Manitoba members pay $10, Nature Manitoba non-members pay $15 for the workshop fee.

2026 February 16, "Darwin's Elves", and Meeting, at U/W
Paul Kroeger, UBC Medicinal Mushrooms Biochemist, will present (via webinar) mushroom poisonings and how to avoid becoming a victim.
Meeting is free to MMS Members, $10 for non-Members. Free for UW students, faculty, staff (requires UW ID).
A "hybrid" option will be available for Members to join remotely via Google Meet.
Following the presentation, members will learn about Society status, help plan future meetings, workshops, forays, share and mingle.

Donna Kurt presents information mushrooms found over three decades in the Mantario Wilderness Zone of Whiteshell Provincial Park. The wild fires of 2025 have burned a large portion of the Mantario area, what effect will this have on the fungi?

2025 December 10, 6:00 pm - Wool Felting Mushroom Workshop
University of Manitoba, Animal Sciences Building
Heather Sadler shared how to make wool felt mushrooms with member participation.
Thanks to Heather for sharing her skills and purchasing supplies for participants.
We also participated in the NAMA Fungi Film Festival, an exciting and fun event.

Charles Burchill provided an introduction to Lichens of Manitoba.
